About
The story behind MacPrune
We are on a mission to make Mac storage management effortless, and honest, for everyone.
Our mission
Making Mac maintenance simple and honest
Most Mac cleaners are bloated, expensive, and use scare tactics to push subscriptions. We built MacPrune to be the opposite: an honest, lightweight, and affordable tool with a free basic version and a minimal-cost Pro upgrade.
MacPrune uses macOS native APIs to safely identify and remove junk files, old caches, and unnecessary data. It never asks for root access, never phones home, and never deletes anything without your explicit permission.
Our goal is simple: help every Mac user reclaim their disk space and keep their machine running smoothly, without the anxiety of wondering whether a cleaner is doing more harm than good.
In short
- Free basic version, no account required
- Never asks for root access
- Scans and cleans entirely on your Mac
- Pro is a one-time upgrade, not a subscription
Our values
What we build around
Four principles decide what goes into the app, and what stays out.
Simplicity
A clean interface that still gets powerful results.
Safety
Critical system files are never on the chopping block.
Privacy
No data collection. Everything runs locally on your Mac.
Fair pricing
Free basic version, with a low-cost one-time Pro upgrade.
Why MacPrune
What makes us different
Six commitments we hold ourselves to, in the app and on this site.
No scare tactics
We never exaggerate scan results or pressure you into upgrading. What you see is what is actually there.
Fair, transparent pricing
Basic features are completely free forever. Premium tools unlock with one minimal, affordable payment.
No data collection
Zero analytics, zero telemetry, zero ad tracking. MacPrune scans and cleans entirely on your Mac.
Native performance
Built with Swift and macOS native APIs. No Electron, no web wrappers. Fast, lightweight, and efficient.
Safe by default
Built-in safety rules prevent deletion of system-critical files, and you always review before anything is removed.
Open and transparent
We explain what every file is and why it is safe to delete. No mystery "system optimization" claims.
In the app
No mystery numbers
The dashboard puts your storage breakdown next to the categories MacPrune can clear. You see what was found, category by category, and decide what goes before anything is removed.
- Storage overview at a glance
- Cleanup categories you can review first
- Nothing deleted without your confirmation
